A Philosophers' Table discussion!
The Philosophers' Table this month will serve helpings of Free Will and the Problem of Evil. This classic conundrum of religion and philosophy is a rich soil for discussion and debate. Does dogma chase its tail? Does dogma catch its tail and bite it? It's a perennial "pet" topic (ohgod please stop) of the philosophically inclined, who do indeed chew on it (please) doggedly (stop). And mind you, this is not simply a religious question -- because the conflict of predestination vs. free will is not all that different from determinism vs. free will. Is it? Or no? Well, that's why we have these discussions.
So come to the Table, bring your favorite chew toy, and share a few gnaws. Afterward, stick around for the monthly SacFAN/AOF joint meeting (Reason Center, 1 to 3 pm), and bring something more edible than a chew toy for that.
The general rule at Pilosophers' Table talks: respect each other's opinions and feelings, always help the other person be heard, and no dogfights. (*groan*)
